"Thank You" from the Troops

tree-testimonial 4

I'm a mother of four with a lot to be thankful for.  I have happily accepted words of thanks for my husband's military service in the past.  This year, Christmas fell in the middle of a fifteen month deployment, and somehow the free tree felt like a real thank-you. The house still smells like Christmas tree as we come close to welcoming 2008.  The picture is the one we e-mailed to Daddy for Christmas.

Thank- You. Paige

About the Christmas Spirit Foundation

A charitable organization, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation is the non-profit branch of the National Christmas Tree Association. The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation is incorporated in the State of Missouri and has received IRS 501(c)3 charitable organization status. The Christmas SPIRIT foundation relies on charitable giving at Christmas and throughout the year to sustain its programs.

The Christmas Spirit

For many, the Christmas season is an exciting, reverent time of the year. The Christmas Spirit derives from a combination of feelings, traditions and memories accumulated over the years. These may include family get togethers, candlelight worship service, the gleam in a child's eye at the sight of a gift or when first giving at Christmas. It may be the excitement of wrapping presents and putting them in that "secret place" or writing Christmas wish letter to Santa. It might be the first snowfall of the season, friends gathering for the Christmas Eve service, a Christmas Day phone call with grandma or Salvation Army bell ringers.

For some, the Christmas season starts with Thanksgiving Day Christmas Parades, shopping the day after Thanksgiving and selecting the perfect Real Christmas Tree. It may include Making Christmas decorations, making Christmas cookies, hearing Little Drummer Boy for the first time this season or giving at Christmas time by working in a soup kitchen or contributing to a charity.

Our Focus & Themes

The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation is committed to keeping the spirit of Christmas alive and growing memories for the next generation of children and families.

To achieve our mission, we focus on programs for children, families and the environment ... all designed to enhance the Christmas Spirit.

Developing Programs

We consider programs that will best reach out and convey the Spirit of Christmas. While we are still establishing some of our programs, we would like to share a few of our projects. With your donations and the volunteerism of others, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation has supported children, families and the environment through the following efforts:

Children

  • College Scholarships: Help Santa Find the Perfect Real Christmas Tree contest
  • Developing online curriculum for teachers
  • Contribute to camps that host underprivileged or ill children

Families

  • Trees for Troops and their families
  • Contribute to family-oriented programs within local communities
  • Hurricane relief: providing assistance to family Christmas Tree Farms affected by Hurricanes

Environment

  • Recycling programs, such as EARTH 911 and recycling Christmas Trees in Mark Twain Lake
